Calling All Genealogists!

The National Archives will host its 6th Annual Genealogy Fair on Wednesday and Thursday, April 14-15, 2010. The theme of this year’s 2-day fair is “The World of Genealogy,” highlighting the diversity of NARA’s records as they relate to various ethnic groups’ interactions with the federal government. Speakers and exhibitors at the fair will represent the National Archives staff, historians, and genealogy professionals.

Partnering with the Foundation for the National Archives and supported by Ancestry.com, admission to the fair is free and open to the public (no need to register!). Sessions and workshops will focus on records relating to Native Americans, African Americans, women, the Chinese, the Irish, the Panama Canal region (and the more than 40 nationalities represented within this territory), as well as citizenship, naturalization, DNA genealogy testing and much more. Additionally, the fair will host introduction to genealogical research sessions, providing information for both experienced and beginning genealogists. National Archives staff will be on hand throughout the fair to answer questions and offer assistance with research questions and database demonstrations. Attendees will also receive a 10% discount in our gift shop!
