In late September 2011, the first phase of construction began in the ground floor research area of the National Archives Building. The construction resulted in the temporary relocation of the Finding Aids Room and Consultation staff to the Pension and Service Record Research Room, G-18, on the ground floor. We are now planning on moving back to our permanent location.
On Monday, February 27, the temporary Finding Aids Room will close at 2:30 PM to begin the move back to our permanent location. We will still have a 2:30 pull, so no pull times will be affected.
The bulk of the move will take place the afternoon of the 27th. On Tuesday, February 28, the Finding Aids Room will reopen in its permanent location in Room G-28.
We will continue to have all necessary finding aids and location registers in the permanent Finding Aids Room in addition to six public access PCs, doubling the amount of computers that were in the old Finding Aids Room. We do not anticipate any major lapse in service while we physically move from our present location back to our permanent space. Our staff is committed to providing excellent service to our researchers during the construction operations resulting in improvements to the Robert M. Warner Research Center.
