DC-Area Researcher Update: New, More Efficient Policy for Personal Property

We’ve listened!

Starting November 28, 2011, researchers will no longer be required to record their property data on Equipment Receipts.

We will no longer retain equipment receipts for validation of serial numbers by security officers upon your departure from Archives I or Archives II.

Security officers will continue to check equipment to validate that your personal property is being removed and not government property.

This will reduce entry and exit processing time for Researchers at the National Archives Building (Archives I) in Washington, D.C. and National Archives at College Park (Archives II).

  1. A welcome change of policy, Dawn.

After a long day at the NARA II, saving a few minutes at check-out is good news indeed.
